Terry Boardman explores one of the great 'what if' questions in European history. In 1828, a teenage boy was found wandering around the streets of Nuremberg, Germany. He was unable to communicate at first but later was able to reveal that he had been held in a dark cell for most of his life. Five years later, he was murdered at the age of 21.
